With so much on offer from manufacturers, it&#8217;s very tempting to buy one tube of acrylic paint per color. To help you weigh up the pros and cons, here&#8217;s a quick comparison of the pros and cons.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Acrylic paint: mix it yourself<\/h3>\n<h4>Before you start<\/h4>\n<p>Before starting, if you don&#8217;t know how to mix acrylic paint, I invite you to discover my articles on the subject:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/technique-de-melange-en-peinture-acrylique\/\">How to mix acrylic paint<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/les-couleurs-complementaires-en-peinture-abstraite\/\">Complementary colors<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/comment-utiliser-de-la-peinture-acrylique-avec-de-leau\/\">How to use acrylic paint<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>The benefits of blending :<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>You only need 3 colors to do almost all the colors<\/li>\n<li>You can find a pack of three primary colors for less than 10\u20ac, which is a great financial advantage and saves you a lot of money.<\/li>\n<li>Mixing is an excellent way to learn color harmonies and chords (chromatic discovery).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>The disadvantages of mixing :<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>When you&#8217;re a beginner, it&#8217;s hard to get the colors you want just right.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s more time-consuming and less practical during a creation to have the desired colors on hand quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Acrylic paint: use one tube per color<\/h3>\n<h4>The benefits:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>You don&#8217;t have to waste time to get the right color<\/li>\n<li>If you haven&#8217;t mastered mixing, this will ensure you get the right color.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Disadvantages:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>You&#8217;ll need more space to store your various tubes of acrylic paint.<\/li>\n<li>Having one tube per color is a real budget, so not necessarily suitable for beginners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>My recommendation for beginners<\/h3>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a beginner, I recommend you buy only the three primary colors: Primary Yellow, Cyan Blue and Magenta.<\/p>\n<p>These primary colors allow you to make your own mixes, so you can learn to create different shades on your own without breaking the bank! (Perfect for small budgets).<\/p>\n<h3>My choice and use of acrylic paint<\/h3>\n<p>After having produced several hundred paintings, I have enough hindsight to know which is the most efficient way for me to work and use acrylic paint.<\/p>\n<h4>Strict organization and arrangement of paint tubes<\/h4>\n<p>I find it much more practical and efficient to work with the paints in chromatic order<em>(as you can see in the photo<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3861 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/tubes-de-peinture-pour-abstrait.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"688\" height=\"339\"><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, each tube follows (or almost follows!) the chromatic order by hue.<\/p>\n<p>What does this mean? I simply use the order of a color wheel. You can, for example, take inspiration from <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Johannes_Itten\">Itten&#8217;s chromatic circle<\/a> (My favorite.)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2701 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/cercle-ittens-peinture.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/cercle-ittens-peinture.jpg 745w, https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/cercle-ittens-peinture-300x242.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/cercle-ittens-peinture-150x121.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 491px) 100vw, 491px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>My use of acrylic paint<\/h4>\n<p>So I usually use tubes with a specific color. However, it&#8217;s very common for me to change the shade of the color depending on what I want to achieve.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, if I want a more or less saturated color, or want to change its value, I&#8217;ll start from the tube color and add a neighboring color, or white or black. This allows me to obtain the desired shade.<\/p>\n<p>So I use different tubes of paint as a base and refine by mixing.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>How do you use acrylic paint?
