Whereas for a large format, e.g. 80cm x 80cm, you&#8217;ll need to invest several dozen euros.<\/p>\n<h4>Paint savings<\/h4>\n<p>One thing&#8217;s for sure: when you start out, you&#8217;re going to have to practice, experiment, discover how paint reacts and how to use your equipment (again and again and again).<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll probably have to repeat your painting several times.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll use much less paint on a small frame, so it&#8217;s more economical to work on a small surface.<\/p>\n<h4>Easier to use space<\/h4>\n<p>When you work on a small format, you&#8217;ll easily and quickly cover all the available space, unlike a large format.<\/p>\n<h4>Special equipment not required<\/h4>\n<p>You can easily work on a small board without having to use an easel or special support.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Disadvantages<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Small formats are less visible in exhibitions<\/li>\n<li>Small formats are less coveted by buyers in the contemporary art world, particularly in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chambaud-abstrait.com\">abstract painting<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>  Painting a large picture<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3403\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/abstrait-comment-faire-un-grand-tableau.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"877\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/abstrait-comment-faire-un-grand-tableau.jpg 877w, https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/abstrait-comment-faire-un-grand-tableau-300x159.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/abstrait-comment-faire-un-grand-tableau-768x408.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/abstrait-comment-faire-un-grand-tableau-150x80.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 877px) 100vw, 877px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Benefits<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Large formats are highly prized in the world of contemporary art<\/li>\n<li>A large-format board is an effective means of expression, provided you know how to use it (use of space, balance, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Disadvantages<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Large-format painting requires specially adapted painting equipment<\/li>\n<li>You need a certain budget to be able to buy a large frame, materials and a certain quantity of paint.<\/li>\n<li>The storage of large paintings is more delicate. It takes up a lot of space and you&#8217;ll need a dedicated storage area.<\/li>\n<li>Transporting a large painting is more delicate<\/li>\n<li>Acrylic paint dries quickly, so you&#8217;ll need to pay more attention to the execution time of your painting.<\/li>\n<li>The first few times, the large formats are impressive and it is sometimes difficult to take the plunge with confidence.<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll need to be able to stand back, not get bogged down in the details of the painting, and make good use of the space on your canvas. (Finding the right balance)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>The equipment<\/h3>\n<p>As we&#8217;ve seen, there are differences between the materials needed for a small painting and those required for a large one.<\/p>\n<h4>Brushes<\/h4>\n<p>If you&#8217;re working on large formats, use large spalters. For example, size 80 or size 100 spalters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/action.metaffiliation.com\/trk.php?mclic=P422AB56B253131&amp;redir=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.geant-beaux-arts.fr%2Frecherches%3Fq%3Dspalter\">If you want to buy Spalters at a good price, click here<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>The paint to use<\/h4>\n<p>As far as paint is concerned, I recommend that you work with study\/fine paint and not extra-fine paint.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;d like to know more about the different types of paint, I recommend my article: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cours-de-peinture.net\/peinture-acrylique-fine-ou-extra-fine\/\">Types of fine and extra-fine acrylic paint<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Varnishes<\/h4>\n<p>There&#8217;s no need to change your varnish, either with a spray varnish or a liquid solution (solvent type).<\/p>\n<h4>The space<\/h4>\n<p>To be able to see the whole picture, you absolutely must have the space to step back and see if you&#8217;ve occupied the space on your canvas correctly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Where to buy your chassis?<\/h2>\n<p>As always, I recommend &#8220;Gerstaecker&#8221; chassis. (Triptychs, quadriptychs, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>A polyptych is a painting composed of several frames.<\/p>\n<p>When I work on a single-frame painting, I often use square formats: 80cm x 80cm or even 100cm x 100cm. I also create tall or panoramic paintings: for example 120cm x 40cm.<\/p>\n<p>As I tell you in the video, many painters say the following: &#8220;Once you&#8217;ve had a taste of the big frames, it&#8217;s very hard to go back.&#8221; And I can confirm that this is the case!
