But there&#8217;s one thing you might not know about me: <strong>I&#8217;m very shy<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it is! I assure you! Some will say: &#8220;He&#8217;s got lots of exhibitions and YouTube videos, can&#8217;t he be shy?<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong, I&#8217;ve always been a <strong>very shy<\/strong> and reserved person.<\/p>\n<p>It took me a <strong>long time and many challenges<\/strong> to become <strong>more comfortable in public and overcome my shyness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Even though I still find it hard to look some of the people I talk to in the eye, I&#8217;ve managed to overcome my shyness considerably.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to my will and my passion, shyness is no longer an obstacle in my life as a painter. This one doesn&#8217;t penalize me any more and I&#8217;m going to tell you my secret&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>Painter &amp; shyness<\/h2>\n<p>Painters are creative, and strange as it may seem, <strong>many creative people are shy <\/strong>. And of course that&#8217;s a disadvantage.<\/p>\n<p>A painter, whether an amateur or professional artist, needs visibility, needs to show his or her work.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on their degree of shyness, shy people sometimes have trouble with everyday tasks: making a phone call, talking to someone, etc.<\/p>\n<p>This makes it all the more difficult for a shy person to carry out some of the tasks inherent in being a painter. And these tasks can become a real obstacle, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Call to find exhibitions<\/li>\n<li>Participate in an exhibition or event<\/li>\n<li>Communicating<\/li>\n<li>Selling, explaining and defending your art<\/li>\n<li>Talk to buyers, journalists, etc.<\/li>\n<li>etc (the list can go on!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>So what do you do if you&#8217;re a shy painter?<\/h2>\n<h3>Lack of self-confidence<\/h3>\n<p>First of all, it&#8217;s important to understand that shy people often have very little self-confidence! You have a misinterpretation of the environment and a fear of contact and exchange&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>We call them irrational fears.<\/p>\n<p>As part of your passion for painting, you have :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fear of opinions<\/li>\n<li>Fear of negative comments<\/li>\n<li>Fear of remarks about your paintings and your art<\/li>\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How I managed to move forward and get rid of my shyness<\/h3>\n<p>As I said, I&#8217;m a very stressed person. And so, quite naturally, at the start of my career as a painter, I simply said to myself: &#8220;I&#8217;ll never exhibit!<\/p>\n<p>And I was also convinced that I would never show my paintings, even to my family and friends. After a while, one of my friends saw one of my paintings hidden next to my sofa and told me he loved it!<\/p>\n<p>It was when I got positive feedback from friends and family that I started to see things differently.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, I decided to try selling my paintings and become a painter.<\/p>\n<p>It was then that I clearly understood that things would never happen on their own and that I&#8217;d have to get out of my comfort zone!<\/p>\n<h3>The solution is simple<\/h3>\n<p>In my case, the passion was so strong that it overcame my shyness. In any case, I had no choice but to force myself to do everything I would never have done before!<\/p>\n<p>I set myself tasks like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Register for exhibitions<\/li>\n<li>Asking strangers for advice on my work<\/li>\n<li>Show my work en masse on the Internet<\/li>\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By provoking contact, you&#8217;ll see that most of your fears are unfounded and based on genuine irrational fears.<\/p>\n<p>So get your courage up and sign up for a show today.
