Anthony Chambaud, I am a painter specialized in abstract painting.

My name is Anthony Chambaud and I’m a contemporary painter.

I’m a self-taught painter and I taught myself abstract painting in a spirit of freedom and experimentation.

What is abstract painting?

Abstract painting is an artistic movement that emerged around 1910. To put it simply, we can agree that Kandinsky was the initiator of abstract painting and abstract art in general.

Abstract painting is a technique opposed to figurative painting. Indeed, in an abstract painting, the aim is to leave room for emotions while achieving something non-figurative.

Many people have trouble with abstract painting because they absolutely want to see “something” in it. This is human, as the body and mind seek to associate abstract forms with a figurative image belonging to the reader of the canvas.

To appreciate an abstract work I think you have to keep it simple, step back and let go completely. Then it’s just a matter of analyzing the emotion obtained by contemplating the canvas.

An abstract painting can be very powerful, combining effective shapes and colors.

Just because we talk about abstraction doesn’t mean we have to do everything and anything. The aim of my work is also to find coherence in shapes and colors:
