Demonstration of abstract knife painting

Hello everyone,

In this video, I’ll show you how to create an abstract painting with a knife: red, black and white on a 60cm x 60cm canvas frame.

Step 1: Apply the first coat of red paint

First step: I create a red background without Gesso, in which I mix a few shades of orange.

Step 2: Using the painting knife

Once the red paint has dried, I use my knife to apply black paint. This will be the second layer of my red board.

Step 3: Shades of white

I decide to apply shades of white using different techniques.

Step 4: I draw black lines

As I often do, I apply black lines with the side of my knife, allowing me to create continuity with the different shapes previously applied with the knife.
